THEY ARE FIGHTING LIKE ‘CATS IN A SACK’
SNP Westminster Leader Ian Blackford MP has said the Tories must stop their ‘endless irresponsible in-fighting’ on Brexit. With Sunday papers full of stories of betrayal and threats of more ministerial resignations – the Prime Minister has been in TV studios trying to explain the growing confusion and muddle over her Chequers plan – which has infuriated the Hard Brexiteers in her own party.
With time running out to reach an agreement demands for clarity from the business community are going ignored as the Tories continue to fight like cats in a sack.
SNP Westminster Leader Ian Blackford MP said:
”It beggars belief that with so little time to reach a Brexit agreement – the Tories are still indulging themselves with endless irresponsible in- fighting and and are still ignoring the growing desperate demands for clarity over how they will resolve the Brexit mess they have created. It is time for them to stop fighting likes cats in a sack and back membership of the Single Market and Customs Union.
”There is no majority in parliament for a Hard Brexit and the Prime Minister must see sense and bring forward a plan that heeds the mounting evidence against an extreme Tory Brexit – from opposition parties – the business community – the agriculture sector and the devolved administrations.
”There is still an opportunity in these final few months of negotiations to encourage the UK government to adopt the only sensible position of remaining within the Single Market and the Customs Union and put a stop to the damage this Westminster power grab Brexit will do to Scotland. The Scottish Government will continue to press that case with the UK Government to ensure Scotland’s interests are protected.
”The Prime Minister must not be held hostage by her Hard Brexiteers. The SNP will always stand up for Scotland and it is now time for other parties to decide to work with us to get the best possible deal for Scotland – and the UK.”
